Dive School Chaloklum Diving – personal PADI training & dive trips – first opened in 1995 after falling in love with Koh Phangan Island & the beautiful dive sites around it. Chaloklum Diving started off as a 2 man operation, diving off the beach or by long tail boat. Since then the dive school in the north of Koh Phangan Island has grown steadily.

The Dive School in the centre of Chaloklum Village is our headquarters & teaching facility. We feature retail sales of most major brands of dive equipment, there is a fully equipped diving workshop where we personally maintain all our SCUBA gear and we have Bauer compressor tank filling facilities. We now also have 2 additional dive bases; the first one at Wang Sai Resort on Mae Haad beach, and the second one at Long Bay Resort on Haad Yao beach, both on the West coast of Koh Phangan Island.

Chaloklum Diving

Nick & Michael, the owners of Chaloklum Diving, both have been PADI instructors for 15 plus years and their motivation is still a passion for diving and teaching it to others. The Chaloklum Diving team is mainly made up of professional divers trained by us, but everyone shares our belief in quality diving.

Most of our diving around Koh Phangan Island is done from our own 22 x 5m dive boat. The dive vessel is set up for a maximum 35 divers with kitchen, large toilet/shower, gearing up section & spacious open front deck area. Upstairs there’s the captain’s cabin with ship’s radio, mobile ‘phones, GPS, full 1st aid kit & emergency oxygen supply plus more sunbathing space, seating, plus classroom/dormitory. Leisurely full day diving trips, local diving and occasional liveaboards are all available.

Dive Boat

Our own Big Dive Boat means that we can offer a regular schedule to all the top sites, as well as the occasional live-aboard expedition (in season). Good food (breakfast & lunch), fresh fruit, tea/coffee & soft drinks are usually provided on your day out.

Although we do have an unbroken safety record, it is good to know that we are a fully insured & licensed TAT (Tourist Authority of Thailand) operation. We are members of the SSS Re-Compression Network with excellent hyperbaric facilities on neighboring Koh Samui Island. Our team is all first aid/O2 trained and we are sponsors of DAN (Divers Alert Network) Asia Pacific.

Small diver groups with a maximum of four people, genuine personal care, long dives and consistent safety standards means that our divers leave us more than satisfied & also tell their friends too. We believe that although large groups of divers and quick dives may mean more profits for an operator, they are no fun for our divers; we accept only happy diving customers.

We follow the PADI system of diver education as they are the largest SCUBA diving training agency in the world, and the certification is internationally recognized. PADI Courses are taught in English and German (plus French & more languages during the high season), with teaching materials available in nearly all other languages.

The most important thing for us however is sympathetic & thorough training. We try to achieve this by taking only small groups; truly personal, understanding teaching and enough time to do it properly.

Chaloklum Diving School offers the following PADI Courses: Discover SCUBA Diving, Open Water Diver, PADI Scuba Review, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Emergency First Response, PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Speciality Training, Divemaster.

Koh Phangan Island is the perfect base for dive trips to all the top sites on this side of the Gulf of Thailand. The great Sail Rock is only an hour from us and Angthong Marine Park is in close distance. Furthermore we regularly visit other dive sites like Southwest Pinnacles, Chumphon Pinnacles and a few dive sites around neighboring Koh Tao Island.

Beach Diving is usually done off Mae Haad Beach, from Wang Sai Resort in the north west of Koh Phangan Island. It is easy to gear up, walk into the water & after a quick snorkel out, you are ready to dive. There’s nearly a kilometer of good shallow coral reef plus a nearby small island Koh Ma to explore.

Local ‘Longtail’ Boat diving was how we always did it originally and we still do welcome the chance. It makes for an adventurous day out, allowing you more individual choice of local dive sites around Koh Phangan Island.

Our policy with trained divers is the same as with students: small groups, personal attention and lots of time. However, you dive with us, we always provide a PADI dive master or instructor to care for a group of no more than 4 people. We allow unlimited time for dives (subject to safe diving practices), with a minimum of an hour & a half surface interval.

You will get full pre-dive briefings and supervision of those buddy checks, as well as professional underwater care. And we are happy to chat after the dive about what you saw, or to maybe review those dive tables, before helping you to log it all up!
